Loneliest Singles Contest

ORIGINAL CONTEST ANNOUNCEMENT

Click for AdFor the second year in a row, Forbes magazine has named Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as the loneliest place in America to be SINGLE. Now, Bello Productions is taking it a step further.

We're searching Pittsburgh for its most outrageous single guys and gals to compete for the title of The Loneliest Single Guy and Gal in America. After all, if Pittsburgh is the worst city for singles, then the ‘Burgh must have the loneliest, most desperate man and woman in the Country.

  • Are you single, 18 years of age or older, live in the Pittsburgh area, and just can't seem to find that special someone, no matter what crazy things you try?
  • Do you search the Pittsburgh personal ads, only to find that you're reading the same ones you responded to two years ago?
  • Have you been stood up, knocked down, and emotionally dragged about the streets of Pittsburgh with no hope in sight?

Then you might qualify for our contest! Not only will it be a lot of fun, but the winners and runners up will receive some great prizes, compliments of our sponsors! So come on singles—it's YOUR chance to be in the spotlight and benefit a local charity at the same time. It’s easy and free to enter!

Just submit your name, age, phone number, and a paragraph or two stating why you believe you are the loneliest single guy or gal in America. Go ahead, tell us about those failed dates, those no-shows, and any zany, miserable experiences you’ve had while trying to meet your mate in the ‘Burgh. You may even send photos if you think they might help your case.

Email your entry to joe@bellofilms.com by September 6, 2003, early afternoon (No attachments, please. Just type or paste your text into the body of the email.)

We’ll review the essays and pick 10 finalists—five girls and five guys, all of whom will compete in The Loneliest Single Guy and Gal in America final competition at the beautiful Rex Theatre in South Side on Saturday, September 6, at 7:00 p.m. (Doors open at 6:00.) The evening will include a talent contest, a lonely trivia challenge, our own version of The Dating Game, some very funny comedians, the acoustic music of Jay Hitt, magician Tom Interval, and more. The lucky guy and gal who win will be treated to a three-hour Gateway Clipper Captain's Dinner Dance Cruise.

Note: We’ll collect a $5.00 cover charge that night, and proceeds benefit The Children’s Institute in Pittsburgh. If you're under 21 years of age, the Rex requires that you bring a friend who's at least 21. And if you have a friend or relative who'd be hammy enough to join the contest, get them signed up, too!

By the way, after the contest, stick around for the upbeat, high-energy music of Shades, a modern rock band that's a favorite at local watering holes and night clubs.

Good luck, Pittsburgh singles. The search is on, so get those entries in soon!
