JOE GIACOBELLO SPEAKS AT 'ENTREPRENEURIAL THURSDAY' FILM EVENT
PITTSBURGH, PA December 19, 2004 Joe Giacobello, Pittsburgh actor, producer and owner of Bello Productions, spoke at last week's Entrepreneurial Thursday event"Celebrate Pittsburgh's Film & TV Industry"at Dowe's on 9th jazz club, promoting "Doing Therapy," an independent film due for release in mid-2005.
Giacobello was one of about a dozen people who participated in open-mike interviews at the event, a weekly gathering that combines business networking and live jazz by vocalist and host Jessica Lee. Co-host Adrienne Wehr, local entrepreneur, filmmaker, and producer of "The Bread, My Sweet," commended Giacobello for his "guerrilla-style" efforts to produce a film on such a limited, out-of-pocket, budget.
"While writing the script for 'Doing Therapy,' my goal was to make a fun, lighthearted film that would capture the imagination with all the innocence of a 1950s movie," said Giacobello. "I have nothing against modern action, horror or fantasy; but I wanted to make something a bit more funny and cute, something pure of heart that everyone could enjoy."
"Doing Therapy" co-star Barbara Winters accompanied Giacobello, who explained to the audience how he and Winters met at last year's event. "I saw her at the bar with her compact and martini and knew she was perfect for the part," said Giacobello.
