LOCAL INDEPENDENT FILM WINS “BEST ROMANTIC COMEDY” AT CLEVELAND FESTIVAL
PITTSBURGH, PA – July19, 2006 – A locally produced movie, “Doing Therapy,” has won Best Romantic Comedy at The Indie Gathering Film Festival, to be held August 4-6 at the Holiday Inn Independence in Cleveland, Ohio. The movie will screen on Sunday, August 6 at 3 p.m. Pittsburgh filmmaker, Joe Giacobello, wrote and directed the feature-length film to raise public awareness about panic and anxiety. He also acts in the movie, alongside actress Barbara Winters and a variety of other local actors. Giacobello says the audience reaction to the film has been outstanding. “Somehow, this crazy, low-budget movie has people laughing one minute and crying the next.” The film was also selected earlier this year for screening at the Delray Beach Film Festival in Delray Beach, Florida. Set in modern-day Pittsburgh, “Doing Therapy” tells the story of a high-class Hollywood actress who, in the midst of a successful film career, develops a sudden problem with panic attacks. She is sent to a top anxiety specialist—an offbeat psychologist based in Pittsburgh. To avoid media attention, the unlikely couple is stuck together in the shrink's sloppy bachelor pad for an entire month, for extensive 24-hour-a-day therapy. Enter a crazed stalker, a fear of bridges and a few other unexpected twists, and the result is a fun, thought-provoking film that Giacobello hopes will continue to be a “hit” at festivals across the country.
